It’s been a busy few weeks getting our new online membership renewal system up and running, but all is in place and renewal reminders have now gone out via email (no paper forms this year!!). We are using an LTA provided system called ‘Clubspark’, which several clubs in the area also use.
When you receive your renewal email please handle it promptly - just three simple steps :
There is a help guide on what to do here, nearly 40 members have already renewed and found the new system very straight forward to use.
Don’t forget to renew and pay for you membership before the end of April, - especially important if you want to be part of the Wimbledon Draw this year.
If you have any questions on the new system feel free to contact Julie Hunter or Moya Meredith
Good news for all us ladies who struggle a bit to do 6 sets in the summer league, late teas and arriving home from away games at midnight, our Ladies Captain, Lou Nanda has been campaigning over the last few seasons with the league to change the format, and this will change for this summer, after the proposal went to a vote at the AGM. After they consulted with other leagues and clubs the proposal that was passed was as follows: -
The change is applicable to the ladies only so far. The men's is staying in the 18 set format with the option to agree the short 12 set format and when they play 12 sets the below system of all pairs playing each other will prevail. For ladies 12 sets will be the default play and 18 sets may be played if both captains agree. (very rare last year only 23% of matches played more or less than the 12 sets)
The format of the 12-set game has changed and it means that every couple will play each couple of the opposition.
Round 1 (1 set)

Finally, our Adult Club night resumes from Tuesday 9th 7.00-9.00pm. Open to all our full adult members that are confident in playing a social game of tennis.
Please keep an eye on for news bulletins from the club and myself regarding all the exciting and new opportunities that will be arising throughout the year at our fantastic tennis club. So lets wrap up, blow away the Christmas cobwebs and get back on court.
Here's to 2018 at KTC
Mark & Katie
Then as if Christmas hadn't been festive enough already, the ladies had another celebration of their own on the 18th December, when about 30 ladies turned up to play (in thick fog) or just socialise. There was plenty of Prosecco and food courtesy of Waitrose and Nicky and Louise's online ordering skills. It was great to see some team ladies plus daytime and recent new members mixing in. A very big thank you to Nicky Arnell who has organised our Monday sessions brilliantly all year.
A last chance to wish all our members a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. See you in 2018
Our Christmas Club Night get together. The snow halted play on our tennis courts but the competitiveness continued indoors on the table tennis tables together with the very skilful "Play your cards right" or Higher or Lower. There was a fiercely fought table tennis battle in the final between Bill Jackson and Mahmood Elamin against Dave Buffers and.....our own coach Mark Airey!!
Surprisingly Mark allowed Bill and Mahmood (possibly also due to some Elfin' skulduggery) to win through to the final knockout stage of “Higher or Lower” which we're pleased to announce after a fun evening at KTC - Mahmood Elamin is our KTC Christmas 2017 winner .... Well done Mahmood (sorry but no spare silver cups this time).
Thanks again to Lou and Andy for the excellent nibbles (less nibbles but giant hot dogs with fried onions).
What a great turn out for our Halloween special Adult club night on Tuesday 7th November.
Members came down dressed too scare, and to enjoy a range of actives at the Sport Club. The spooktacular ghosts and ghouls enjoyed good games with forfeits thrown in regularly by Mark - some improving the quality of tennis, some not!
The evening was well attended, so when the courts were full, the competition was carried on enthusiastically on the table tennis table. After the scores were in, Mark declared Sarah Meredith the overall winner and refreshment of hot dogs and cake were on offer.
Congratulations to Sarah Meredith, and to Helen Sawyer - who was judged as the best fancy dressed.
Thank you to all that came to support the event.
Now matches are in full swing, courts are getting really busy.
We will update you with how all our teams are doing next month but in the meantime, to save any wasted journeys, we thought it might be worth just clarifying who has priority and when it's likely to be busiest.
Matches can take place at home on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.
Ladies have organised sessions on Mondays taking 2-3 courts and the same for men on Wednesdays.
General club nights are Tuesdays and there is another club night for members and none members on Thursdays. This is an opportunity for the club to introduce potential new members and it has been very successful over the last few years.
Therefore if there is a match, it's possible that all 5 courts will be in use. You can always check if there is a match on the calendar on both the Tennis and Sports Club websites plus the notice board.
If you want to organise club tournament games or social 4's please check the date or maybe opt for the weekends or Friday nights.
Please note that Mark has his Spring / Summer Camps next week. This will use the top and bottom two courts during the day, leaving the middle three courts free for social play.
